About Streetwise
Streetwise is a partnership between Maccabi GB & CST that works nationally with Jewish schools and community organisations, enhancing the personal safety and personal development of young Jewish people to support their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Streetwise was first established in 2005 with the aim of ‘Inspiring confidence inside and out’ through delivery of a variety of personal development and personal safety programmes.
Since 2005, with the ongoing support of its parent organisations, Streetwise has grown and developed into one of the community's leading education provisions, now offering Antisemitism & Personal Safety programmes to young people across the whole of Great Britain in over 65 Jewish and non-Jewish primary and secondary schools, communal organisations, youth movements and through leadership programmes.
How We Work
Streetwise' educators deliver interactive workshops for students in Year 6 to Year 13, using a variety of engaging and interactive methodologies, for young people to learn through both understanding and practice. Our programme builds year-on-year, incrementally increasing the participants knowledge, confidence and resilience
Our methodologies include Q&A, debate, group discussion, front-led and visual, with a focus on learning through a contemporary lens and from real-life experiences.
Our small team of trained educators endeavour to create safe, non-judgmental spaces where participants are free and comfortable to discuss sensitive and difficult issues.
Sessions can be adapted for schools and organisations’ individual needs.
Our Approach
Our approach focuses on early awareness and education, recognising that understanding discrimination and prejudice, as well as strong foundational knowledge of contemporary antisemitism is essential long before students reach sixth form.
We integrate discussions on antisemitism into broader lessons on history, politics, digital and street safety, ensuring students are equipped to identify and challenge anti-Jewish hate both online and offline.
Given that formative political and social worldviews develop between ages 13-16, we provide structured learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, empathy, and a strong moral foundation.
