How the idea came about?

"Generation Changemakers began as an idea I had as part of my Head Student project when I was running to become Head Boy at JCoSS. I wanted to create something that would make a genuine difference and have a lasting impact on our school and the wider community. I believed that some of the most important work in challenging prejudice happens through conversations in classrooms, where young people can ask honest questions, learn from one another and build genuine understanding. If one student leaves a workshop with a better understanding of Judaism, they’ll take that into future conversations, friendships and classrooms. The more schools we can reach, the more opportunities we have to build understanding, one conversation at a time.

What made me proudest wasn’t just watching our Year 10 ambassadors deliver brilliant workshops, but seeing the discussions continue afterwards. Students stayed behind asking questions about Judaism, sharing what they’d learnt and having conversations that might never have happened otherwise. That was the moment I knew the programme was already making a real difference.

I’m incredibly grateful to Streetwise for believing in the idea from the very beginning, and to every one of our Year 10 ambassadors, whose enthusiasm, confidence and willingness to share their own experiences brought the project to life. I’m really excited to see Generation Changemakers continue to grow, reach even more young people and keep creating opportunities for understanding in the years ahead."
